Is everybody enjoying the weather this week?????? hahahahaha... It's minus a million in Canada, I'm not sure I even want to ask what it is in snowbird land!!
I drove ALL the way to Sunshine (past Banff) on Monday with the mistaken belief that I would go downhill skiing in -28 C weather.... I've done it before, and if you dress properly, all is good. HOWEVER... I did not account for elevation... it was -31 C at the top of Sunshine, and they close the lifts down once it gets into the -30's. A whole lot of driving for nothing :( Oh well!
Neil and I went to the movies on Sunday... we saw the new Sherlock Holmes movie first, really enjoyed it, then decided to make it a double header and watched Mission Impossible next... good way to spend a frigid Sunday.... and to top it off, Laurel and Aaron made us supper! haha...
I just had the best drive home from work EVER.... I live quite a long ways from where I work, and there aren't alot of good routes. I end up on a single lane highway on the edge of the city.... but I get ahead of myself.... the first part of my driver was very, very cold. I was driving out of the parking lot in my cold car (it's about -26 right now) and I see a friend, so I stop and roll down my window, and we talk for a couple of minutes. When I drive away, I CANNOT get the window to go back up. Awesome! I dig out my scarf, touque, and mitts and prepare myself to tough out the half hour drive home. Things look up after about 10 minutes of this, my window motor finally is convinced to (slowly, oh so slowly) raise my window up.... I do a little happy car dance in my seat, and all is good in my world.... then about 10 minutes away from home, I get stopped by a train... that is not moving.... no big, just glad my window is up.... this happiness lasts a while, until I finally realize that the train is never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever going to move. I sit there for 25 minutes... I had a snack, caught up on some emails, enjoyed my warm car, then decided I had better go around if I ever wanted to get home. Well... it is a LONG way around, because they have pretty much all the major routes in my quadrant of the city shut down... so ANOTHER 25 minutes later, I finally get home... officially the longest commute every, and it was in the middle of the night. sigh! Oh well, at least my window closed!
Stay warm everyone!
